Gary Hook

Gary severed for more than four decades with the Canadian Air Force as a fighter pilot, senior trainer and Commanding Officer. Throughout his career he and the family have moved across Canada and as well as serving in Germany for nine years. Outside of the military he had an International Training and Consulting Company, with clientele spanning 5 continents, focusing on areas such as organizational effectiveness, culture, safety and leadership. Gary and his wife Charmaine Lyons now call Winnipeg home where he balances his volunteer time at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada and being the official ‘Grandpa/photographer’ of his Granddaughters high school sports teams.

Gary was ‘officially’ diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in June 2022, although he had been seeing a respirologist for a persistent cough dating back to 2013. The opportunity to contribute in any way towards finding a cure for IPF is the motivation for his participation with the CARE PF Advisory Panel. As to specific future goals with the Panel he expects that to be an evolving process and hopes to be able to make a contribution.
