Welcome to CARE-PF
The Canadian Registry for Pulmonary Fibrosis (CARE-PF) team is pleased to have you join our mission of improving the lives of people living with pulmonary fibrosis (PF).
The last decade has witnessed a dramatic change in how we care for patients with PF. Our improved understanding of the biology and natural history of PF has yielded multiple new treatments that slow progression, with many clinical trials testing additional medications currently under way. CARE-PF has been and continues to be central to these and other advances. This success is primarily based on the unparalleled energy possessed by our team of expert clinicians and researchers and our highly engaged and enthusiastic patients who continue to support our work. CARE-PF very impressively includes over 6,500 patients and millions of data points, representing the single greatest resource in the world for learning more about patients with PF.
Supported by our many collaborators around the world, the CARE-PF team has published over 40 manuscripts focusing on the impact of PF on patients and caregivers, how to better diagnose patients, the best way to predict future progression, the impact of air pollution in both initiation and progression, and how to manage side effects of available medications. These advances have had a meaningful benefit for patients living with PF and CARE-PF continues to lead the world in these and other areas.
As the Chair of CARE-PF, I welcome you to join us in our collective mission and thank you for being part of our team.
Chris Ryerson
Our Goal
Established in 2015 and hosted by the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation at the University of British Columbia, the Canadian Registry for Pulmonary Fibrosis (CARE-PF) is a multi-centre and collaborative registry with a goal to learn more about the ways in which pulmonary fibrosis affects people’s lives.
Our Sites

CARE-PF connects eight major sites across the country — from Vancouver to Montreal — with over 6,000 patients enrolled and more than 1,000 new added participants each year. As one of the largest international registries, CARE-PF is uniquely positioned to advance our understanding of pulmonary fibrosis characteristics, treatment approaches, and patient outcomes.
